Shucking corn is one of those tasks that are perfect for getting kids involved in meal prep. A missed opportunity on my part!
Involving kids in the kitchen is one of the most effective ways to reduce picky eating and encourage healthy food choices.
Ideas for kiddo jobs by age:⠀
Age:18 months - 3 years⠀
Pouring measured ingredients into a bowl
Stirring batters
Tearing lettuce
Brushing oil with a pastry brush
Washing fruits & veggies
Age: 4-6 years old
Setting the table
Greasing baking pans
Rolling out pie crust or cookie dough with a rolling pin
Spraying and wiping the table
Cracking raw and peeling hard-cooked eggs
Age: 7-10 years old
Grating cheese
Cutting fruits and veggies with a small paring knife
Peeling fruits and veggies
Forming cookies and/or patties
Scooping batter
