Brain-Boostin smoothie recipe

I had the best time recently, chatting with Dr. Caudle and Dr. Ordon on CBS’s, “The Doctors,” about this smoothie recipe! Bursting with color, flavor, fiber, protein, and plant-based nutrition, this brain-boosting smoothie is a favorite after-school snack and/or quick breakfast for kids. Chia and pumpkin seeds pack in many micronutrients important for brain function, like copper, iron, magnesium, zinc, and plant-based omega-3s.

Pitaya powder (dried dragon fruit!) is the magic ingredient that adds antioxidants and vitamin C, as well as a fun pop of color—but without the use of synthetic dyes or artificial colorants that may be associated with neurobehavioral effects such as inattentiveness and hyperactivity in sensitive children.

This Brain-Boosting Smoothie also works well as a frozen treat! I love using these popsicle molds* that come in playful shapes, sizes, and colors and can help get kids involved in the process—such a fun way to incorporate nutritious foods into the diet AND help kids feel involved and empowered about trying new things.
