So…… Let’s   talk   Kid   Snacks…

Do you get as irritated as I do when I work hard to prepare something and no one eats it? Argh, it’s massively frustrating. But it helps to take a step back and think big picture rather than day-to-day. ⠀

We’ve all heard it takes a lot of exposures before a kiddo will accept a new food. The average number is around 20!⠀

But do you know what is meant by “exposure?” Exposures include tasting but also:⠀

  • seeing the food⠀
  • touching the food⠀
  • smelling the food⠀
  • letting it hang out on the table or plate
  • watching someone else eat it⠀
  • giving it to the dog (no seriously!)

There is so much value in offering a new food even if they don’t eat it. Especially when you offer it with some comfy favorites which can help forge a positive association.⠀

Here’s a 2-MIN MUFFIN TIN SNACK TRAY I gave the girls yesterday after school that included some comfy favorites and something new:⠀

  • Freeze-dried strawberries
  • Fresh blueberries⠀
  • Fresh chopped cucumbers
  • Yogurt-covered raisins⠀
  • Roasted chickpeas⠀
  • Dried mangos

Was interesting to see what they ate.⠀

If your kiddo rejects a food, do you keep offering it?

Cheers and warmest wishes for good health,
